Meeting documents

| Policy papers and background info | Nanotechnology

The English term Advanced Materials finds various translations into German. These terms all clearly highlight a difference to pre-existing materials based on one or several new or improved qualities. There is no universal definition.

The Advanced Materials Dialogue (FachDialog Neuartige Materialien) aims at reaching an agreement on the types of materials and applications included in the term of Advanced Materials, their potential for sustainable, technological development and the possible risks associated with their use. Various challenges, such as the recyclability of materials, can be addressed.

The goal of the dialogue is to promote exchange of information and sharing of views among the participants. The FachDialog is also taking on the challenge of discussing the possible need for legislation at European and national level.
