The federal government and the federal states activate a new portal at www.nuclearsafety.de This website compiles and presents information on nuclear safety.

The federal government and the federal states launch www.nuclearsafety.de.

The Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB) worked in partnership with the federal states, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) and the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) to create a portal on nuclear safety. Today, this knowledge platform has been activated in both German and English.

The Atomic Energy Act places nuclear safety within the remit of the federal government and the federal states. Previously, interested citizens had to scour multiple federal and state authority websites to find information on nuclear facilities, licensing procedures, the regulatory bodies of Germany and Europe, and emergency preparedness and response. The joint platform streamlines this knowledge in five subject areas and thus allows easy access.
