Umsetzung des UNESCO-Programms in Deutschland
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was one of the first international organizations who were recognizing global environmental challenges. Following the first Intergovernmental Nature Conservation Conference in 1968, the UNESCO Biosphere Conference of 1968, the UNESCO Member States launched the interdisciplinary intergovernmental program "Man and the Biosphere" (MAB) at its 16th General Conference in 1970. Since then, the MAB program - internationally coordinating and focusing on implementation on a national level - has been developing and implementing solutions for sustainable use and effective conservation of the biosphere's natural resources.
