On Monday morning, a press conference was held on the current status of negotiations at COP26 and Germany's contribution to climate adaptation financing. State Secretary for the Environment Jochen Flasbarth, Mikko Ollikainen, Head of Adaptation Fund and Dr. Jürgen Zattler, responsible BMZ Head of Division for Climate Protection, discussed the state of negotiations from the German perspective in a virtual press conference.

Race to Zero: German companies on the road to climate neutrality

The G20 summit in Rome and the appearances of the heads of state and government in Glasgow have made it clear: There is no longer any relevant economy that is not heading for climate neutrality around the middle of the century. This has consequences for companies all over the world. Those who succeed in staying ahead in the "Race to Zero Emissions" have great opportunities on the world markets of the future. More than 1,300 companies have joined the UN Climate Change Secretariat's "Race to Zero" campaign. Two of them reported on this at a press conference on the occasion of the World Climate Conference in Glasgow. Other examples show that even smaller companies acting as suppliers in the supply chain can become important drivers towards climate neutrality.

Press conference on the negotiations at the 26th World Climate Conference

The 26th World Climate Change Conference began in Glasgow on Sunday, meeting as usual at the working level first after the World Leaders Segment. On the agenda are various topics on the common rulebook for the Paris Agreement as well as numerous international and regional initiatives on climate neutrality and climate adaptation. BMU State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth and Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMZ, Maria Flachsbarth, described the start of negotiations from the German perspective during a virtual press conference.
